Default CTR climate control with missing vent!!!

well, i just recently bought a 99 CTR climate control unit. the problem is, its missing a vent, and i already took apart my dash and took out my stock one. ( i have a 99 hatch). ive honestly been staring at it trying to figure out how to take one of the vents out but i honestly cant figure it out. if someone knows how, please let me know. thanks.

just get a knife to it, and use some JB weld lol jk, looks clean if it had both vents.

The vents are sort of glued in (they appeared melted in the last time I dealt with this). They also have a slight bit of the vents that goes into the bezel assembly.

You run a risk of breaking them if you remove them.

Your best bet, I would think, would be to find a cheap climate control bezel (good luck - a lot of used ones have broken vents and new is about $120 for the '96-'98 ones). This was you still have your good stock one in the event you're not successful with repairs. It would suck to break one to fix another and then just end up with two broken climate control assemblies.

Then take the vent off that one and use a razor to trim down that little lip they have that goes into the bezel. Then use the razor to shave down any pieces sticking up out of the bezel itself. Then see about carefully epoxying the vent into place.

Unless you got this one for free or cheap (depending on if you can manage to repair it), you might have been better off getting one that was still intact.
