CTR/B20 swap....
Does anyone have experience with a B20b/z block & CTR head swap? I am about to purchase a B20 longblock to begin my "Project Swap". I plan on staying N/A and using all stock internals (modified B20 pistons, B20 rods & crank, ctr head, etc...) Its gonna get dropped into an EK hatch. Anyone with this setup have some 1/4mi. times or dyno numbers? Thanks...

Re: CTR/B20 swap.... (Plan B)
From what i understand it isnt very expensive - actually rather cheap. B20 longblock goes for about $600-$800, $1000 for the b16b head, another $1000 for tranny, $1000 for other misc. stuff. As for difficult, its almost identical to an LS/VTEC swap, which is not very difficult. A b20b block with a 1G B16a, stock B20 pistons is getting 173whp and 130 lb/ft. of torque...thats damn good.

b20's are hard to do right. And very expensive. I personally do not suggest it.
I would recommend ditching the stock slugs...
Mine baselined 189hp & 144lb/ft.

A note of advice, compared to the other B series the 20 has the thinnest cylinder walls, if you go oversize go 84.5, I went to 85mm and recently thought I cracked a cylinder wall, turned out to be a blown headgasket but I was really sweating it there for awhile

Re: CTR/B20 swap.... (ridge racer 2)
nice dyno numbers! im not to familiar with b20s but i am familiar with ls/vtec.... my friend is dropping his second one in tomorrow..... i have another friend that just bought a b20z w/gsr head..... for my project i just got my b16a head ported and polished with 3 angle valve job for my ls/vtec... and im waiting to get my ctr pistons......i will post the pics but i can figure out how to up load it!(flame away) i think ls/vtec is the best bang for your buck NA motor but b20 has crazy torque....... for more info you can check out http://www.clubsi.com NA forum

are we calling your motor "bone stock" again? lol
Don`t expect the same numbers by simply slapping a vtec head on.

Re: CTR/B20 swap.... (Rydaddy)
how much are you getting the b16b/b18c5 head for? if its a good deal go for it, but if it cost 1500 and up you should buy a b16a head and get it ported........thats my opion..... good luck
itr/ctr rods will not work.... the stroke is diff..... if it works in the b20, whats the use of getting b20?

Remember the B20 uses a totally different cylinder liner design than any of the other B-series. Its also siamesed unlike any of the other B-series. When I was trading my bare B18c for my B20 and compared them side-by-side, the cylinder walls looked hella thicker on the B20. And i got several comments to the fact from several other Honda hotroders while tearing it down...

Re: CTR/B20 swap.... (Rudy)
If you wanted torque you sure as hell picked the wrong car to get it out of.

youll only get the torque if you use the B20 rods...CTR pistons will give you the most compression gains, B16 pistons run a close 2nd...get the Z10 girdle also...for an extra $300, itll save you a lot of headaches

Re: CTR/B20 swap.... (rainmanEK)
b20vtec is the best of both worlds , YOu get the most torque ever on a B series.. and you have vtec which also make top end power with some head work.
I dont know but I love my b20vtec because I dont need to downshift to pass anyone in the hwy just give it a little gas =P
