CRV drivetrain in a EK??
I have been told that it wont work, but I haven't been told why it wont work. Can someone lay it down to me and tell me why, or if anyone has tried to do it let me
know what they went through.

know what they went through.
List of problems:
1. Mounting of rear diff - basically mounting has to be custom welded in - VERY expensive
2. Ride height - imagine a "sand buggy" Civic - this is what it will look like when it's done. I saw it ONCE on an Integra.
3. Front tranny and driveshaft - basically won't fit stock floorpan. New tunnel will need to be custom welded.
Of note: There was a Japanese version of the Integra, called a REALtime (something I can't remember) that DID pull off the all-wheel drive trick. The only thing is that the chassis is DRAMATICALLY diffferent from the stock Integra's or Civic's (and thus the name I can't remember that it was called). Honda basically did the custom work I said above. It only came in two model years (94-95 I believe). The cost was prohibitive, and thus discontinued after a short run.
So, it CAN be done (but, hey, if you got the cash, you CAN put an NSX V6 in the back of a Civic Hatchback for a rear wheel drive Civic), but it won't perform like stock, and if you like lowered performance cars, you won't like the CRV drivetrain in a Civic.

There is a 4WD version of the 4 door EK and the current civic in Japan.
http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/c...nt/la-es2.html
As for the 4WD Integra, they offered it 94-95, but they also offered it for the 96 and up model as Honda of Japan's page indicates.
Trying to convert a Civic to a 4WD is possible only with a lot of work. It's intense, kinda like those guys who convert Mirages into Lancer Evos.

I guess you are sucking if you can't read Japanese, what is the chance that you could get one of these four doors drive train here in the states or who would you talk to, to get ahold of it.

It isnt really AWD either, not all four tire have power all the time, is the opposite two......ex: left front and right rear, right front and left rear....but im sure with the money spent you could make it full time AWD.

It wouuld be possible to do as far as throwing a drivetrain like that into a civic, but a BIG HEADACHE to do. Besides, I doubt it would take kind to large amounts of power.
