cruise control problems
well, since this is my first post, i guess i should take a moment to introduce myself. my name's Jason. i've been messing around with Honda's for roughly 8 years now. first car was an 82 Prelude. first car i actually worked on was my 95 Civic DX. had ALOT done to the car, but it was still just a slow SOHC non-Vtec. was a blast to drive, though. good auto-crosser. traded that in on a Mustang that i drag race (i know... i know....) and now i picked up a 97 Civic EX for my daily driver to save some money on gas. i've done a few things to it, because i missed the excellent handling of my old Civic. the Mustang is set up to go in a straight line, so it can't take a turn to save it's life. the Civic has Tokico blue struts, Tein S springs, Suspension Techniques front and rear sway bars, ASR rear brace, Blox rear LCA's, 15" Rota Grid's, CTR headlights, SiR front lip, DC header, and some off brand axle-back.
anyways... i'm having problems with my cruise control not maintaining speed. it overshoots, slows down, and then goes 2-3 mph below target speed. on level road, it does okay. but if i go up a hill, it starts running away when the road levels out.
i did some checks that the Honda service manual said to do. everything seemed to check out okay. the only thing that was questionable was the speed the actuator released vacuum pressure. the cable seemed to take a long time to return.
anyone know how the actuator normally works???
