the dx tranny would not be better for your Ex but but if its free might as use get it and use it and rebuild your ex tranny

I AM positive it is the input shaft bearing.

Symptoms: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=590820

Replacement: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=596873

A pic:

What happens if you don't fix it soon:

The ISB will get chewed up and thrown all over the tranny...destroying it and locking it up. Tom (B18C5-EH2) said he drove around for a few months on a bad one and he was locked out of gears (destroyed tranny).

Yeah Im in the process of fixing mine. It's really not hard if you can get a decent bearing (ORDER OEM TO BEGIN WITH AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!!!)

yeah, if it's doing it moving and idling with the clutch engaged, that means it's a bearing on the maain shaft...and that would be either input shaft bearing or the main shaft case bearing...

but the ISB is most common to go out

Someone broke into your house and installed a supercharger in your car.

Dammit Evan, the ISB and the main shaft case bearing are the same thing!

The ISB is actually in the housing. Check this out y0!

no, I'm talking about the bearing at the end of the main shaft....I dunno what it's called...figured the main shaft case bearing would suffice.

Pull a tranny apart, you'll see

In the EX tranny the bearing is pressed into the case, with the DX tranny it stays situated at the top of the mainshaft...but I know which bearing you are talking about

Mine's in peices.

I do know what you're talking about though.

My bad y0!

EDIT: ****...take your pick. You're talking about the bearing on the end of the mainshaft on the left of the picture correct?

$20 bearing < $250 used transmission that possibly has the same problem

if the bearing vibrates a little when you spin it, but visibly looks good...

for the most part, clean it in a parts washer and spray it clean, then lube it up and it will be fine. No need to replace if it vibrates/makes noises unless it still does after cleaned and lubed

With a DX tranny your car will feel like a DX.

I'd rather have a D15B7 with a EX/Si tranny than a D16Z6/Y8 with a B7 tranny
