Icon3 Crazy Overheating problem on a 93 civic

I have a 93 honda civic with over 100k and lately its been overheating like crazy. So far i've changed the radiator, water pump, and tried 3 thermostats from honda and still no luck. The funniest thing is that when i turn the heat on the temp goes back 2 normal and no more problems. Car only runs cool unless heat is on full blast. Need help ASAP!!!!!

Do a compression test... could be a bad head gasket.

Compression tests can be a little misleading at times when diagnosing a head gasket issue. Best thing is if you can get your hands on a Co2 test setup. You essentially just pull the vapor from the radiator, through this fluid and if it changes colors, you have combustion gasses reaching your cooling system. Obviously since combustion gasses are so hot, they elevate the coolant temp substantially.

There are cheaper setups out there, but you get the idea..
