crankshaft pulley spins freely
I just picked up a low miles B16A3 block and noticed the crankshaft pulley is spinning freely. I put my hand behind the pulley and the keyway does not feel chipped as far as I can tell.
Is there anyway I can check before removing the pulley?
Should I replace #15 and #16 along with the key?

if it just spins freely , and the bolt is tight , thats no good , lol. might have just sheared the keyway , hopefully. use a chain wrench to hold the pully and take the nut off. than youl see whats going on. if the timing gear itself is broken up , than youl need part #15.

I hope it is only the key and not a chipped crank keyway.. There is no way to tell without removing the crank pulley?

i told you how to pull it when you asked me dude , use a chain wrench(over top of a piece of belt or somin so not to damage pully if i didnt mention that before) it will work fine.

Re: crankshaft pulley spins freely (cranny)
the block is bare, no head attached, no flywheel attached.. I don't see how a chain wrench could stop the crank from spinning

just get an impact and a 19 and take the damn bolt out! it wont hurt nothing!
if you really wanted to know you would have done that by now!

Won't matter if he can't hold it still.
AT OP:
Jam it up, there's tons of ways.

lol, i'm working on it.. I have no impact gun and the block is in my apartment (2nd floor)
it would be a serious pain in the *** to carry it down stairs, drive it to a shop, and then back up the stairs just to remove a bolt.
