Default Crankshaft pulley bolt won't come off b18b1

It's come time to replace my belt, the motor just hit 100,000 miles on it, so I thought it was time. No matter what I do I can't seem to get the bolt off, I've seen on the forums people say to put a breaker bar on it and crank it with no luck. I just bought a 1000 ft/lb impact gun with no luck, I let it sit in pb blaster for days, with no luck. Does anyone have any other idea for me to finally get this thing off??

Also, I have put a torch to it and nothing has changed.

Try a harmonic balancer socket. It is a weighted socket. There are several brands: Lisle, Ingersoll Rand, Matco tools, etc.

Use a good impact. Do not use an extension. Turn counterclockwise like a standard bolt.

Note that since the engine turns counterclockwise, holding the bolt and cranking the engine will NOT work. That will make it tighter.

Thank you, I've never heard of it, but I will look into it.

I'm using a kobalt, which I would consider a pretty good brand and I don't see a way to get to it without an extension, but I'm willing for any advice right now. Thanks for that last tip, I had no idea since I'm doing this by myself.

Put a jack under the engine then detach the main mount (which you have to do anyway to replace timing belt) then lower the engine for more space to access the bolt.

+1 one the socket ingersoll rand makes one called a power socket its a weighted socket that works magic almost any impact and pull it off. if you cant find that there is a crank holder for hondas thats have a octagon peice that lets you attach a breaker bar

If all fails you can try to wedge the bottom where the flywheel is, just remove the cover on the bottom where the flywheel is and wedge a big whole punch between the teeth and rotate the crank counter- clockwise till it catches the bottom of the block, then use a long 1/2in ratchet or use breaker bar for leverage and rotate counter-clockwise

On a manual car, you can block the engine from rotating by putting transmission in 5 and stick a screwdriver in the edge slots of the brake rotor(s) to prevent wheels from turning.

I bought it and it didn't make a difference. Which is kind of scaring me at this point, because I saw a lot of people swore by this, but for some reason mine is still stuck on there.

So, my friend was telling me that if I put the car in first and I press on the brakes, that this would do the something, is this true? Because I tried it, but the engine was still turning. He said it is because the clutch disc is slipping, but I don't know how true that is because the car still drives fine, maybe I just don't know what a slipping clutch feels like.

Rent the Honda Crank Pulley Holder tool from Autozone.
You will need an extension on your breaker bar. See this picture.

I use an electric impact gun and never had an issue.

Been working on cars since I was 14 (really got into Hondas at the end of 2016), but I’ve never had a problem that my Mac impact or a breaker bar + cheater pipe couldn’t fix.

Ok not sure if you got the Harmonic balancer bolt off or not i had the same exact problem
like you but i finally broke it loose this is how i got it loose/off i bought 2 breaker bars one
for the Honda/Acura crankshaft pulley holder i bought as well then by adding a pipe to the extension
so the balancer don't move either by going to the ground or using the car as leverage then i got 2 or 3 extensions for the bolt
long enough so it with reach out past the fender like 3 inches just enough to put a jack
stand under the extension which gives you added support in which you can use your whole
weight in trying to break it free plus i also use pb blaster it must of taken me a few weeks lol
since i only weigh 150 lbs and doing it by myself but i got it it felt like i broke it by the way it
sounded but i didn't

Many impact guns seriously overrate their torque specs. What size impact is it? What CFM / tank size is your air compressor. I am more inclined to believe if the impact isn't working its the compressor. What kind of torch are you using, propane, MAP, Oxy? How long are you heating it for?

Also, as others have posted get the honda removal tool, a very sturdy breaker bar and a cheater bar. You would be amazed how much more torque you can generate with a breaker / cheater bar, over a impact gun.

Funny thing about all this, when I was doing the work on my wifes 00 corolla all i needed was my 200ftlbs cordless impact and it zipped right off, i was stunned.

I'm just reading the bottle, but it says 6.4 scfm at 90 psi and it can go up to 200 psi. We are just using normal propane and we have heated it up to 2 minutes.
I got the Honda removal tool, and we got a 10 ft cheater bar and I just feel like something is going to break lol and we still haven't popped it off yet.

Another day and I still haven't gotten it off, so I'm going to go and buy this Lisle socket a lot of people talk about and see how that does. Will hopefully give an update next weekend.

You gotta jump onto the cheater... like you’re trying to give it a kick start...

Well, I actually decided to do this and it worked. Nearly fell on my *** lol, but it's off! Will finally be replacing the timing belt tomorrow!! Going to try to get a refund for that Lisle socket (not sure if it would have worked, I haven't gotten it yet).
