it runs normal and everythin. its jus it requires a long crank for it to turn on. i recently replaced a bad alternator if that matters. it seems like its taking a more longer and longer crank to turn on each time

bring your battery to autozone or a similar place to get it tested for free, if your battery is good then you can start lookin towards the starter.

Does is crank at normal speed or very slowly? What I mean is, is the actual cranking taking forever or is it just taking forever to fire properly?

it cranks same speed, but it just has to crank for a longer period of time to start.

im building compression enough for it to start? what u mean?
oh yea after the car is on then i turn it off, and try to turn it on again, it turns on right away and doesnt require the long crank. it only does the long crank when i havnt turnd on the car for like 6 hours if that makes a difference..

To start up a car you need the battery juice...then alternator replaces the battery's job while the car's on as it charges the battery too...
COld startup = battery is bad that is not charging when it's supposed which is why u get that long crank when starting up.
Could also be the ignition coil inside the distributor. They tend to go bad very often when ur car engine goes past 90K to 100K miles. Just unplug the sparkplug wires from the distributor but make sure you know the correct order when u plug it back in. Unscrew n take the cap off...get the coil out and put the new one in. If you see the ignition coil wet in oil then replace the o-ring but for that u need to get the whole distributor out...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but oh boy im dead tired

recharge your battery, then you can take that off the list of possible reasons but honestley it sounds like your starter. if your battery was bad it would crank really slow

It should have nothing to do with your charging system if its not surging (act like the battery dieing) when your starting it. Have you check your distributor timeing
and dist components

just brought my car to autozone this mornin. they said they couldnt recharge it because my battery is dead. they estimate that itll last another month or two. i told them bout my crankin problem in the mornin and they said my fuel injection system could be dirty? do u think they know what there talkin bout? or could it just be because of a bad battery. i just replaced my motor with a new dizzy a month ago.

If your car cranks normally, your battery is probably OK...
It sounds like fuel is draining back to the tank overnight and it takes a few more seconds to build up pressure again...Check by leaving a fuel pressure guage on it overnight, OR you can cycle the key 3 or 4 times before you start it in the morning. If it starts up normally after cycling the key, your check valve in your fuel pump could be bad...
You could also have a plugged fuel filter. If youve never changed the fuel filter, this is the first thing i would do as its almost 10 years old and probably over 100k miles...

when you go out to start your car in the morning turn the key cylinder to the on position and wait about 20 seconds, so the fuel pump can build pressure. Then try starting it. It may help. Another thing you can try is checking your battery, and aletrnator hot and ground connections, and engine grounds. A lot of times when you have problems like what your expierencing its because your dropping voltage somewhere where your not supposed to, which takes voltage away from where you need it.

yeah but how long have u had ur battery for?
they said the battery's dead which would be true since the alternator charges ur battery when the car is on...meaning when u turn it off and turn it back on the battery has some juice...
but when it sits there for 8 hours or more ur battery gets cold and loses its energy...get what im saying?
