Crank Woodruff Key Gone: Crank Snout Damaged
I'd like some opinions guys. Tonight my 96 EK hatch was making a crazy noise that sounded like I spun a bearing. I took it to my shop, and took a look at it. It had flung off the alternator belt and the pulley was wobbling a good bit. I pulled the wheel off, and pulled off the crank pulley to find that the woodruff key was gone, and the area that the key fits in has been seriously damaged. Unfortunatly I don't have pics at the moment, but I don't think it looks like a woodruff key is going to be able to fit back in the snout. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't want to have to pull the engine over a ******* woodruff key, that would really suck. I'm going to look at it again closer tomorrow, but any input/suggestions would be helpfull.
Thanks
