Default crank swap

I'm thinking about doing a crank swap - B18A crank into a B18C motor. Is that possible? I was told that you couldnt do that because of the imbalance - factory balance for specific blocks. Can someone please help me on this?

Why would you want to do that?

of course, before i would do that, i would need to do a whole balance job - crank, rods/pistons and flywheel. will it still work though? the B18c block is the same height as the B18A/B block. anyone?

the reason why i would want to do this is because i can, jk. i want to have more torque and a reliable LS vtec. i've heard that this is the proper way to do an LS vtec but at the same time, there's controversy over the imbalace of the LS crank even though if it does get fully balanced.

That is not how to do an LS VTEC, to do that you use an LS motor and put a VTEC head on it. YOu don't put the crank into a Type R motor. Just use the Type R motor with the Type R crank, then you'll have more power than the LS VTEC anyway.

Default spll

yes it is...

the whole principle behind an LSVTEC is the crank and rods.

i would use the gsr block.

it has a girdle and you can choose if you want to bend the oil squirters out of the way of the crank or you can remove and plug them up.

what you are looking for is stroke. if you have a type r/gsr block you can put an ls crank and rods in it and it would be an lsvtec [ you would need to mill 1mm off the small end of the rods to use the type r pistons or use PR3 units}

this is such an old topic. if you search youll see its been done

will, seems like i got my questions answered, kinda. i would use the ls crank. i probably would use eagle rods though. i was told that the stock ls rods are kinda weak. i did get a chance to put the ls crank in yesterday and you dont even have to bend the oil squirters out of the way. it seems to sit in there pretty nice but once i balance the crank, rods, pistons and flywheel, it'll be all set. the gsr crank is pretty good but i want the torque from the LS crank.
