Crank pulley and timing belt cover 96 Civic
I installed an Unorthodox crank pulley on my '96 Civic EX. The pulley's diameter is smaller than the stock, so the lip doesn't clear the timing belt cover. Would it be wise to shave off part of the cover, or can I find another cover that will work? Any danger of getting dirt and grime in there if do shave out a hole? Thanks! Please share your ideas!

That is the only cover that will work. I never knew they did not clear that little lip.. news to me

shaving it wont hurt but just be aware that ur pully and belt will be exposed, u could even get experimental with a sheet of metal and make ur own, wouldnt be hard

Ive had my pulley(Unorthodox Pulley) and regret it completely. Im actually in the process of putting the stock one back on. Since Ive had the pulley on my main seal has went out and seems to put more stress on the entire assembly. To me it was not worth it thus my reason for putting the stock one back on. Its your car and engine but I figured I would just warn you. If its a D series engine the gains will be unlikely noticable if any.

That sucks you had trouble with your setup. I've been running mine for almost ten years now with no ill effects. My biggest issue comes up when its time to change a/c or atl. belts and getting the correct size, I never seem to be able to hang on to the jacket the belt came in.

Yea maybe its the engine who knows but Ive read alot of post about people having problems with bearings and main seals with this pulley. Who knows, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones, but which ever way you go just take pride in your project.
