You should always have some sort of way of locking the crank in place so it won't turn. A big gun and a crank pulley locker would do the trick in 2 seconds.

At the above mentioned URL there are a few other 3/4" guns with more torque than the one I put in the first post. Would the other ones be a better choice?

that 1 you put in the other post should do it......i have got theme off before with a plug in impact gun ..so you dont really need nothing super pwerful and expensive

DO NOT STICK A SCREW DRIVER IN THE FLYWHEEL TO HOLD IT. That is one of the dumbest things I see people do instead of renting the tool to hold the pully properly. Its just worth the risk of damging the flywheel and or transmission housing. Get the tool and get the airgun, You'll use it later for other things on the car aka suspension for example.

Ive had to take mine off a few times. Impact gun works well, but dont sit on it. Do it in spurts, it will come off.
Oh and I used a $25 90lb 3/4" impact gun from autozone.
