Do you by chance have some reddish dust inside the cap?

If you've checked that sensor with a meter to be sure it's out of spec, then either replace that particular piece from another distributor (I don't recommend, others do) or replace the distributor sub-assembly, giving you 3 fresh sensors (they are of the magneto-reluctor type and do loose their magnetism over time) and a fresh bushing (which is why I asked about the red dust) keeping the distributor shaft from wobbling which lets those sensors send inaccurate signals to the ECU.

hrmm.. I will check for red dust after I remove the cap and rotor and the inner cap. I also dont know how the 3 sensors look like from inside but when I start the car the idle doesnt move and stays at 0 rpm until I rev then it bounces all around..

There's a shaft that you see those 3 magnets on (top one has like 30 teeth, next one down has 4 and the last one has 1) coupled with black 'box' next them, are what generate these signals:

You'll only need to remove the distributor cap to check for this dust I'm asking about...and if you see ANY, just replace the entire housing.

Your tach signal comes from one of two places: everything up to 1998 comes from an output of the ignitor (also in your distributor). 99-00 gets it tach signal from the ECU.

Is this just a stock car? What year and how many miles? If it's not stock, what swap is in there?
