Crack on resonator!!! How should I approach this?

I started my car yesterday to let it warm up and I noticed that it was a bit louder than usual. The treble was unusually high and it started to annoy me. After close inspection, I noticed that there is a crack where the resonator is welded on to the flange. It is a Tanabe Racing Medallion. Also, I do not have a cat and I'm using a straight pipe. It's 4 months old.
Q. How do I fix this before I get a ticket for noise pollution(the damn thing is loud enough without the crack)
Q. Should I go to Tanabe for warranty issues? What are my chances of winning?
Q. Should I take it to a muffler shop or something?

My suggestion is either try and deal with Tanabe for warranty or go to a muffler shop have your resinator cut out and a new one welded in.

well let me tell you that tanabe is kinda of a bitch when it comes to their warranty but hey give it a try.. try to email them first.. also have you checked your warranty and see what it covers? Also why dont you have a cat??

I emailed them today. I haven't gotten a response yet. I bought it from a shop so it didn't come with any ppw. I bypassed the cat with a testpipe. I have a gsr engine in my 93 civ hb. I have a friend that did the same swap a couple years back and he made his own testpipe, it's kinda ghetto but it does the job. When he got a new testpipe, he gave me his.

just cut it and weld on a straight pipe...every damn exhuast ive ever owned..the damn resonator blows out first...happened on 2 greddy's and 1 tanabe g power....resonators suck!...take it to some muffler shop and they will cut and weld a new pipe in place for like 35 bucks..good luck http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif
