Default couple quick q's about EG cluster si/ex vs cx

i recently bought a 92 cx hatch for a daily driver. the car had been swapped, by the previous owner, with a d16z6, si trans, p28 etc. the car has, from what he told me, the stock cx cluster which has a tach. its currently got some ricer guage covers, the redline reads 7.2k... but with those white covers i'm not sure if the reading behind them is different...

my realy q is about the engine temp gauge and the fuel gauge, they dont work... the guy i purchased the car from swore up and down that if i just swapped a ex/si cluster in then those guages would work... plug and play style.

i dont understand how/why swapping a different motor/trans/ecu would cause the temp and fuel guages to not work on the stock cx cluster... or maybee i do need the ex/si?

thanks in advance

doesnt matter what car the cluster is in. its plug and play. there just might be something wrong with the tamp gauges in that cluster

also Cx's never came with a tach so that isn't the original cluster

since you said redline is at 7200, i would say that cluster came from a EX/SI. my LX came with a tach but its redline is at 6800, same as a DX would be. It is deffenitely not a stock cx cluster

just go on ebay or on honda-tech marketplace and buy any one for a 92-95 hatchback that has a tach. plug it in and they should work. thats what i did. mine didnt come with a tach and my temp gauge was broken. but i just wanted a tach and look stock. which it is.
