Default Couple Questions. New to these civics

I normally post in the 01-05 civic forum as I have an 01 Civic. My brother just bought a 94 coupe. I am not sure what trim level it is or what motor it has yet. I am not familiar with these civics but I know it is a 1.5. It has 240000mi on it, yes it is a lot but it has been taken care of. It is lowered, not sure how much, but I from a quick look I think it might be tein coilovers. It had the timing belt and water pump done a year ago and the valves were adjusted by my local honda dealer. For the last 4 years it has gone to the dealer for anything from oil changes to a weird noise. My question is what should I look for? I do know how to do a lot of car work, engine work and interior/electrical. Oh and it is an automatic....not sure if it is original or not. There is no oil or any fluid leaks anywhere and the engine bay is very clean. I have been looking through this forum for a few days and searching a lot and figured i would ask around now. Any problems to look for? Weaknesses? (like the automatic trannys for the 01-05 civics!!!!) or just anything you would recommend. Thanks in advance for the help.

yeah. sorry about that. should have made it clear. Also, anything I should do or be prepared to do. I plan to do a general tune up, plugs, oil, air filter, coolant, check brakes and anything else i can do. I just wanted to know, since many of you have been around these for a while, what to expect or do? thanks

i believe the engine is a d15b7.
things to keep an eye on:
distributor seal. i see almost every d-series distributor seal leak at some point.
master cylinder. the rear seal on mine blew one day coming to a stop sign, lost all brakes. make sure it's not leaking.
axles. make sure they're not throwing grease.
timing belt. replace at least every 100k miles.
axle seals. my passenger side seal tore and it puked fluid. (it's an A/T too.)
exhaust system. if it's stock, it'll probably rust out soon.
window regulators. they like to take *****.

other than that, it should be a good car, assuming that the previous owner(s) took care of it.

i will try to make it clearer....what are common problems with these civics????? I know about normal maintanence. For example, i know the automatic transmissions in my car(01-05 civics) are crap!!! Is there anything to look for on these civics? tranny? Engine problems???

thank you very much. That was exactly what I was looking for!!!!
It has an aftermarket exhaust in good shape. Sounds ricey but we will change that. I will have to look at the axle seals. master cylinder and distributor look good but i will be sure to double check. thanks again

from my experience in auto transmissions, there all junk, so I'd pry service that first along with timing belt and water pump while your in there. honda has especially had problems on and off through the years with the auto transmissions may want to look into a 5 speed conversion for it, being a 94 should be very affordable, plus better gas mileage.

yeah he needed better gas mileage than 12-14 mpg on his jeep. I know the timing and water pump were done just a year ago so i will look into how the tranny is doing, check fluid and whatever else. a 5 spd conversion would definately be a possibility.
