Default A couple of questions for a 95 Si

I've got a few technical questions regarding my 95 Si.

1. When i release the clutch, as i get to the top i can hear and feel a clicking noise. Could this be the spring? Any ideas??

2. I am getting excessive heat from the console just below the shift stick. I thought it might be the heat from my catalytic convertor but my heat sheilds are in place. I can't see any holes in the exhaust either. Any ideas?

3. I'm a novice mechanic at best, but i'm thinking about doing my front disc and rear drum brakes. Is it a feasible job for me to do or should i not risk it and get it done by a mechanic?

Thanks for the help.

1. I'm gonna bet it is in the pedal assembly. Check out the linkage while actuating the pedal to see where the click is comming from. It could be the spring, pivot points, etc.

2. I experience this as well....only difference between us is that I drive an 1.5 hour commute home and I removed my heat shields. (Apex WS catback) After some driving (especially in the summer) some heat floats up through my center console around the Ebrake and shift lever. I'm not worried about it but if you are I may suggest some better heat sheilding materials. Look around for some of those racing reflective barrier foils. That may help keep the heat outside.

3. I'd buy new rotors and pads, install those then flush and bleed the brake lines with Valvoline synthetic fluid. If you really wanted you could get some rebuild calipers to start off fresh, but it isn't always nessesary.
You could also upgrade the front brakes but IMO it is not worth it for a street car. Properly maintained oem brakes on the front of your 95 Si will work fine for what you will throw at it. (unless you AutoX quite often). If you do want to upgrade your front brakes you will need the spindles, calipers, and rotors from an Integra (LS and GSR are the same size). Also don't forget that you should replace your 13/16" master cylinder and booster with a 15/16" or 1" master cylinder and booster from an Integra as well.

Personally if I was to bother with upgrading the front brakes I would just buy Wilwoods or Fastbrakes kits instead.

**had to add, nice car 95 Si sounds very similar**
