Default B swap questions ( transmissions and pulleys? )

Word. Still considering ( and saving ) for a B18B swap.. and i have a few questions to those who know a little about B swaps..

1. I'd like to get a GSR transmission for faster accelleration but it looks like the 5th gear ratio is riced out like all the other gears. I do a lot of long distance driving and would like my highway gas mileage to be good.. would it be be possible to swap out the 5th gear for an LS 5th gear?

2. I've heard many comments that lightened pulleys are a really bad idea for a D16.. are they a bad idea on a B motor also? pulleys are one of my favorite mods..

3. do GSR throttle body / intake manifolds / other fun parts hook up to a B18B block? I'd like to have all that stuff so that if i blow my motor i can just stick a GSR motor in there when i'm richer.

any feedback is appreciated.. thanks

cook it and wrap some fish around it..
you know what i mean. 5th gear in a GSR trans is a little perkier. I want the econo-5th of the LS.

yes you can swap the final gear out..

the intake manis i think will interchange .. b18 all work together but b16 is diff..

what do you have in the car now.. if you are trying to save money and buy some WHP turbo the d and smoke the B-s.. unless you want more that 450whp// then go b

vids of my D make you change your mind
stock head stock suspenssinon no lsd just rods pistons and turbo

see, the tailights of the car in your avatar are "riced out"

a gsr tranny is in no way "riced out"

and no, nobody knew what you meant.

econo of fith gear in a ls will make a negligible difference, but that loss in acceleration will be obvious.

Eh.. not gonna turbo my D16Y8. It's got 154k mi. on it and i doubt it would last long.
I'm looking for a nice daily driver setup with a slightly peaky top end.. B18B with some mods sounds ideal. The more low-end power the better.. hence the pulleys / weight elsewhere being the first modification i do.

Anyways. You sure about B series pulleys? In the D series i hear it can actually expletive up the crankshaft, mess up internal balancing, etc. I've had pulleys on every car i've had other than this honda and i miss the gain :/ ... GSR trans at least has a lighter flywheel, correctamundo?

Yeah.. turbo d is freakin' sweet but it's not for me.

If you want you can go with an ITR pulley. The B16 transmission will help you accelerate alot faster and you can still drop the LS 5th in there if you want.

Really?
The Type R motor is so drastically different?
B16 trans seems like a good idea now that you mention it.
I take it that would wind out the motor pretty hard though... hmmmmm

The head on the R motor is a ported B16 head with an upgraded valvetrain. What do you mean that would wind out the motor pretty hard?

:: seems like the b16 trans would be geared to drive at high rpm.. like a d16y8 on steroids. Which is cool, but i'd rather be 'down low'..
maybe i have a misconception.

gsr trans is kinda like the mid point between the b16 and ls trans.... its got a little of each in it. 1-3 are nice and while 5th is a nice freeway gear just my opinion, although i would like b16 lsd trans

I have a B16 LSD trans. Its basically an ITR trans. Its all stock gearing. If you want to lower the RPMs while crusing then swap in the LS 5th gear.
