Coupes N' Kids... Opinions needed
I have a chance to buy a '95 Civic EX coupe in the coming weeks. Here is my dilemma...
I have a daughter already and my wife is prego. So that would mean, on days that we would be taking the coupe, I'd have to put the baby seat in, and my daughter would have to fit back there too.
I used to have an EM1, and my kid was able to get in and out no prob, at least it didn't seem like a big deal, but that was a while ago.
My request is aimed at those of you who own coupes and have kids. How big of a pain in the butt is it, really?

It all depends on u man... I have a coupe for me and my wife has a 98 540i. The 4dr is alot easier on everybody but i have on occasion stuffed the car seat in the back and kept the bitching to myself. The real problems start when ur kid wants to go to the movies with friends and things of that nature. 4drs will make ur life easier and thats up for u to decide what u want.

I've got a 4 year old and there's never any issues. As long as you have a 4 door as well you always have the option. Can't wait till my kid is a little older so I can get the s2k lol. Good luck with your buy

i don't really see the different your still going to have to shove that car seat in and buckle it up only thing is that if it a 4 Dr, your butt is outside with room to play with with no seat folding, still your going to have to bend over to hook up the car seat, 2 Dr your butt is inside unless you want to menuver your body and bend over more, the seat can either be folded backward and foward to fit in the car seat. thus i though this is the reason why minivan and suv was created.

If you're not a *****, coupe / 2dr is no problem with a rear facing carseat.
Is your other kid old enough to sit up front?
If not, then sitting behind you is the only option.

Get 2 car seats, one that stays in the coupe and the other for the wife's car or where ever. That way you don't have to mess with it more than once, just throw the kid in the back and you're set.

For my first, we just had 2 car seat bases until he got old enough to ride in the front seat. (I had a rear facing one on the passenger side and had the "walk-in seating") Havent taken my second anywhre, but she is using his old car seat, so I still have multiple bases for it.

My kids stay with me every summer and I own a 93 DX coupe. Never been an issue for me, but then again I'm not "spoiled" on sedans.

if its your family's primary car, buy a sedan or SUV. your wife will want to haul around the stroller and endless amounts of crap and the coupe will not work for you at all. Two kids in a coupe didnt work for me at all. your baby seat will most likely need to be in the center of the back seat unless you or your wife want to lick the dashboard the whole time your in the car and this will also cramp the amount of room you have for the other kid.

i had to sell my ep3 to get a cr-v for my wife.. my son is 4 months old and i cannot even imagine trying to deal with a car seat in a coupe or a hatchback like my current 94, or 96 hatch!
I sold her 06 si coupe and my 05 ep3 hatch and bought her a 00 crv awd. We ended up realizing i never have a car seat or transport him in my car so basically being a father that never has to put baby in his car it is ok.
in 4 months total i never put him in my hatches just because the cr-v is the best thing ever for being new parents or existing parents. 4 doors, plenty of room, cold a/c. etc
I would vote to have a 4 door if you plan on riding around with baby in car. If you're like me and only use your car to go to and from work only then it doesn't matter what you drive.

I had a coupe. We are a skinny couple so it was no trouble.
It just depends on your preference really.
Take a car seat to a coupe and try it, if it's too hard get a 4 door

My kid can get in and out of the back of my 99 ex no prob, but it was a pain when he was small and had to be put in/taken out. I wouldn't even want to mess with 2 kids in my car. Thankfully my wife drives a 4dr Accord. Seriously, if you can, get something with 4 doors. You won't hate yourself. Besides, 4 doors make fun sleepers

I would get in the back and have my GF hand the carseat with kid in it to me. Then I just strapped it in. That was when she was a baby
Now that she's bigger I have no idea because my EX got jacked.

i have an eg hatch, but have the same issues...
the car seat (recaro rear facing) sits behind the passenger seat. passenger seat is scooted up about 6 inches, but still plenty of room for a passenger.
to get my daughter in or out, i fold the driver seat forward, and sit in the back behind it while holding her. strap her in, get out, then slide my seat back.
looks odd, but works.
and we do have 2 car seats as well, one recaro for me and 1 for the wifes 4-door accord... never having to remove/swap seats makes it easier.
