thats not peanuts, telling people that gets them to buy shitty parts that in the end make for an unreliable setup. my tune is going to cost 600 alone, Evans-Tuning baby
i built my first setup for 600 with a tune on chrome, it didnt last

It's true that it's not the most effective or reliable .... but it's possible.

Re: (Eran)
Ever seen homemadeturbo.com??
Plenty of junkyard setups that were done.
2-3 of them were all done from parts the guy aquired for free.
There are enough sucess stories to make me confident I could boost and tune my civic for 200whp for ~$1000.

Re: (ek forever guy)
keep in mind ek foerever guy never states that he has ever done a turbo setup, keep in mind its about 5 hours of tuning with crome with random jitters becuase crome is not a perfect system, thus why neptune, and hondata still exist

Re: (highrev1987)
So what turbocharger would you recommend on ebay? I mean i heard th stories of some people buying and run into problems and some buy them and have no problems. I just want something that I can use for now until I have the money to put my B18C in. I just want 5-7 psi's

Re: (Scris21)
If you just want to run 5-7 psi get a small trim turbo off of a dsm or a saab/volvo etc.
You can buy rebuild kits for $50-100 and have a new turbo basically.
The only turbo I'd trust off of ebay are name brand ones coming from legit looking sellers.
Don't feel opted to buy one off ebay.
If anything, but your piping and your intercooler on ebay, buy a quality manifold, and get a mitsubishi turbo.
Chip it and run Crome.

Re: (Scris21)
do you have the B18C, or do you mean saving your money for someone to put it in for you? if you really want to go turbo right now, then what ek forever guy said sounds good. Cheap, used parts, in this case is the way to go. just DON'T go above your 5-7 psi. other than that, sounds good(just not that ebay turbo)

Re: (Boost_V)
By all means if you have a gsr waiting to go into your civic, just wait and get the b18c1 installed.
Then turbo that

the air research(garret) is a much better turbo obviously. either or i will be running an egay turbo mine will be on june 3rd. i heard they are fine(not going to last as long as a garret) but should last a couple of years with low boost like that and an oil restrictor.
air research/garret is better though.

I'd get that garret.

piping like that, and your manifold, and go to town.

I haven't delved much into it myself. When my roomate and I wanted a junkyard turbo we didin't even research it, we just said we wanted a 99 eclipse turbo. And got it.
d-series.org and homemadeturbo.com have some good examples though.
