I am replacing the inner and outer tie rod ends on my 97 1.6 EL this weekend. However the dealership messed up my order and i may not recieve the cotter pins until monday.

Can i use the old cotter pins for a day or two or is there a large chance that my car will IMPLODE?

And moreover, if the cotter pins need to be replaced, can i find them at my local hardware store or are the dealership issued cotter pins the only way to go?

you can use the old cotter pins, though it is not recommended. just go to your local parts stores. they should have a box with different size cotter pins.
