Cost of B-Series Swaps
Hello,
I was just wondering if someone could help me break down how much it would cost to do a B-series Swap into a EK?
Cost of: B16, B18, B20 Vtec Motor and parts?
How much for labour? Should I do it myself?

it depends; do you want a track car or is it just a dd? what goals do you have in mind in terms of hp, track times, etc. Also, are you mechanically inclined? if so, you should swap it in yourself. h motors will give you good prices for swaps unless you find one on craigslist or on other forums.

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
if your mechanically inclined enough to do it yourself do it yourself. save 1-1.5k on putting it in.
b16 is like 2800 with LSD, b18 little over 5, idk about b20 but ill say like 3500. and thats fullswap engines. from ^hmo.
pry couple hundred in new parts for any of em.
any of the labor will be alot.

my friend and his dad did his for around 900, granted that was with useing used parts and he got great deals on most things,
shop around and you should have problem doing it for 3k or maybe less.
^^ a type r from hmo can run you 4600+

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
Here's more or less what my gsr swap cost:
70K mile B18C1 with Si tranny, plus mounts/P72 ECU/bad axles: $2080 picked up from an H-T member.
Exedy OEM clutch kit: $90 shipped from Ebay
Resurfaced flywheel: $55 from a local machine shop.
Remanufactured axles: $100 from orly's with core return
Fluids/oil filter: $40
CRV AC Bracket: $75-ish from Majestic Honda
Tranny seals: $15 from Majestic Honda
Assorted vacuum lines/heatshrink/wireloom/solder/butt connectors/: $20
Total: $2485
I did the swap myself with a family member over a weekend. It was my first swap. He had done swaps before, but never on a Honda. Start to finish, it took us about 12 hours, but you get faster with more experience... our second swap took about 8 hours, and the third swap took like 6.

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
i would do it urself if it is at all possible, must look at the amount u want to spend, what you are going to be using it for, and also if u live in cali, if u do scratch the B20 off ur list. They other two are both tried and true, can go wrong with either in my opinion

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
If its going to be professionally done, the swaps are going to be varied from shop to shop. Best thing you can do is either you know a person who owns or work at a shop to do it for you for cheaper or do it yourself. I got mines done for 1000 dollars plus parts (which include new water pump and timing belt) and labors excluding motor. The motor which was a b18c1 was 1000 dollars with everything thing needed for the swap. Got a good deal since I know the guy and he's been working on everyone of my project cars.

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
Damn it all I had like an essay and my internet cut out so the re-type will be shorter lol I bought a B18C-R from HMO. Highly recommend!!! I went all out new this and that... Shop quotes from $500-900 and I have every piece needed for it to go in. I knew someone with a oist and we did it ourselfs, I paid him for gas and labor (I needed him for the hoist). Total cost well over $5000. I have spent around $20k on 1990's Hondas in the past year. I do but I dont regret it. After my accident I realized how quick you can be gone, I came so close to death. I figured you only live once and you never know when its your time. Live it up and do what you want. My newest project should be a nice turnout.

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
I am looking for the most economical bang for the buck. I went to the hmotorsonline website and saw that the CRV long block is $575. How much for a vtec head?
Does the price on the website include the transmission, axles etc?
What is needed for a B-series swap?

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
What kind of swap did you get? I am not really in a rush, but there is 212 000Kms on the motor and I am not sure if the timing belt was changed at 200, so I may be looking at an engine swap sometime soon.

Re: Cost of B-Series Swaps
Awesome. Well I am in Vancouver, BC Canada, so are there any recommendations on where I can get the engine from?
Does anyone have a list of all the parts that are needed to complete the swap?
I am kind of interested in a B20/VTEC or a B16.
