cooling system questions
So my car (especially in the hot FloRida months) tends to gradually increase on the temperature gauge as the car sits idle for more than 3-5 minutes...while I'm driving it doesn't do a thing...which makes sense...airflow etc...I checked the coolant in the reservoir and it's full...radiator seems to be full most of the time, but I'm starting to think there might be a leak somewhere up top due to seeing a very small amount sitting on top of my fan...how would I check to see where the leak is coming from?
Second question is if I wanted to replace my cooling system with something "better" than what I have, do you all have any recommendations?
Third and last question is I've been wanting to do the Saamco hoses for a while being that I've had them in the past on previous vehicles. Are they worth the money? Ahh and is a lower temp thermostat worth doing on this motor?
Stats: b16a2 with bolt ones blah blah...still NA and slow lol
I appreciate the help. Thank you.

Re: cooling system questions
Your radiator cap may be leaking, as far as the puddle on your fan housing goes. Or maybe it's overflow from over heating.
There are a lot of reasons for your temp rising including:
-It's normal...depending on where the temp stabilizes to vs. Where it climbs to.
-bad water pump
-clogged radiator
-non working fan
-bad fan switch
You don't really NEED a better cooling system, but you can always throw in a "racing" radiator to keep temps cooler. I would skip the low temp thermostat.

Like B serious state, the puddle on the fan may be the cap.
Perform a leak system test. ( every shop have one, connect into the radiator mouth and apply pressure).
Check and Replace the cap.
A tired working fan can cause Temp. increase at prolonged idle.
Samco hoses are for show and overrated, stick with OEM or Gates.
Racing radiators can be tricky specially if not use the stock fan, and not come with shroud. Not to mention the copy's out there with the same size as the stock and less cool capacity.

Re: cooling system questions
Like the others said, replace your cap first and see if the problem persists. My car is in AZ and my cooling fan doesn't even work right now, and my temp gauge never goes beyond operating temp. If the system has pressure it should naturally cool through convection.
