cooling system question
where can i find a lower temp thermostat for my car and a lower temp fan switch as im assuming this will fix my problem which if i let my car idle for an extended period the temp on my autometer gauge which is mounted in the hole in the front of the block (D16Y8) reads about 220 and the fan wont kick on until about 225, im assuming the thermostat is sticking

i know jackson racing sells a lower temp thermostat. or have you ever replaced your stock one? as well as your radiator cap? do you know when your fans are supposed to kick on as well?

Re: cooling system question (95dxhatch)
ok im not some shadeteree mechanic (i have some experience fixing cars) not to be a D!ickhead. ok so i went to autozone to and bought a 180 degree therm and a new radiator cap after i noticed that my therm wasnt opening like it should by feeling the upper rad. hose and then feeling the lower which was not as hot, im assuming because my engine runs backwards my lower hose its my outlet to the radiator, so i will post again if the fixes my problem with overheating, my autometer guuge taps in at the connection of the upper hose to head and my water in the head will get to 220 before the therm opens which is my gas mileage problem too , damn i wish i would have caught this a month ago before i filled up damn gas here is 2.69 for premium

Honestly, non-oem parts like thermostats and radiator caps have been known to cause more problems and not solve your cooling issue.
I would get an oem thermostat and radiator cap. Being that the fans kick on at 225 it could be that you have bad/non-efficient fluid in your system, try a radiator flush and if that doesn't work then IMO it would be your thermostat.

Don't bandade problems.
Find out why your cooling system is engaging at 220-225 degrees. Find out if you have any air bubbles in the cooling system. Find out if your thermostat is sticking. Find out if you water pump is working properly. Find out if you have any blockage in your hoses. Find out if your temperature sending unit is working properly.
Do it the right way the first time.
