Hi there Honda-Tech.

Having an issue with my 00 Civic EX. I have coolant spraying out of the Overflow Tank. Seems to happen when the engine is warm and I'm driving.

I first noticed this when i saw coolant spray spots on the Air Box, Rad Fan Shroud, Distributor Cap, and Pretty much most things on the right side where the overflow tank is. Also noticed there was coolant running down the overflow tank.

I did look at the Overflow cap and see that there is a seal of some sort that seems to be deformed and needs to be replaced which will probably fix this issue.

But the question i have is there supposed to be pressure in the overflow tank? is this a result of a possible bad Head Gasket?

check is your fan working first then check ur thermostat isnt stuck if there ok check waterpump and if all good must be your headgasket

I replaced the Thermostat not too long ago, fan still kicks on when it needs to. How can i check the water pump? im about 10k away from the timing belt job which would require a new one anyways.

Overall it seems like the Head Gasket is going to need to be replaced. It doesn't show the usual symptoms of a bad head gasket, does not show white smoke from the exhaust pipe, and doesn't overheat.

Does your heaters work? with a completely failed pump, the car will overheat but the heater will not blow hot air - because the coolant is not circulating. i had it happen to a dc2 integra once heaters didnt work at idle but while reving the engine they would work. took off the pump and it was f**ked the impeller had come loose, also check for water leaks under timing belt cover. anyway if everythin else seems ok and your goin changing the head gasket sure you will be taking off the timing belt so you can take off the water pump and check it before you take the engine head off.

My Heater works fine and the car doesn't overheat. When i save up some money I'm just going to do the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and head gasket with new studs. I believe since I'm not too far from the timing belt replacement interval that it would just make sense to replace it.
