coolant over flow can filling up???
Hey, I have a 95 civic ex d16z6. I put a t3/t4 turbo on it this past spring and recently I noticed that my coolant over flow can is filling up. I put the extra coolant back in the radiator and had the over flow can between min and max and it did it again. At this point I replaced the thermostat thinking that was the problem and it still does it just not as fast it takes longer for the can to fill up. My friend said it was my head gasket but im not loosing any anti freeze and i dont have any white smoke. He also said to replace the radiator cap to because that might not be getting a good seal. If anyone has had this problem or knows whats goin on PLEASE HELP. THANKS

Stop changing parts. It is normal that the EXPANSION tank fill up with coolant. You see, when liquid heats up, it expands. THe tank is there to make sure it has a place to go and not bust up your cooling system. Usually, when the liquid temperature gets back to normal (after lets say 4 hours of sitting time), the level in the tank will go down...
Now if in your case, it never goes down and your tank just keeps on filling and filling, then its a whole different story.

It could be that a combustion pressur emay get into the system and cause this (blown head gasket or cracked head. How does your oil look like? How does the coolant look like?
But usually, head problems will be associated with dissappearing coolant and of coarse some white smoke and oil/coolant that will mix together.

turbocivic13,
i just recently had this happen to me on my mini-me swap. when i did the swap i reused the head bolts, 3 months later i would notice that ONLY when hard driving my coolant resivor would overflow, and no overheating... i got lazy and just drove it like that for 4 months and it drove strong, no over heating still but i would alsways have to put the coolant back into the radiator every 2-3 days, depending on how hard i was driving.... i replaced the head gasket and used ARP studs... guess what??? no more having to refill the radiator!
when i had the head off i could actually see where the combustion gasses where excaping and pressurizing the radiator.
good luck

My friend's b16 had the same problem as you had, and came to the same conclusion...blown head gasket. Fixed the gasket, no problems since.

Yup had that problem on my Del Sol. Let it ride so long that it ate up the radiator, the reserve tank and the water pump! The head gasket was the problem it was starting to fail and I let it ride and it cost me big. I would say its the head gasket.
