coolant leak from hose under distributor cap
It has been a long two weeks, today I just changed my radiator because I swear it was causing me problems, changed the hoses, car still over heats, so I changed out the Thermostat, the gasket looked really bad and I thought this would fix it all. I just tested it out for 2 miles and the car over heats, and I noticed steam coming out from under the distributor cap. I pulled on the hose that seems really long and then I realized that coolant was coming out of it and this is why the car was steaming and over heating.
What is this hose called? and what is the best way to change it? It looks like I need to remove the distributor cap probably.
THANK YOU GUYS!!

That hose goes back to your heater core. Extremely easy to change, However you need to be very careful removing the end closest to the firewall. The hose attaches to a plastic switch and is typically fragile from age/heat. Take your time and you'll have no trouble.

oh damn, that was easy as well.... I just removed the 2 distributor bolts, removed the top of the hose to the intake and took it off... took like 3 minutes. Now I gotta get a hose.
Thanks so much!

That helped, now I noticed the radiator fan does not work, so it seems that might be the other reason it is over heating. It takes longer now to over heat now, but still is over heating. I can hear the fluid boiling.

Did you bleed the coolant system after the hose install?
Jack the front of the car up just a bit, open the radiator cap, top off the coolant and let it run for a bit with the cap off. Make sure you set the heat in your car to max.
Does the car blow cool air, warm air or hot air when the heat is at max?

I can only think now that the fan needs to be replaced. I just ordered the TYC 600070, so I can only hope this works. I have to be able to drive to school.

Before ordering the fan, Do a little more troubleshooting. Did you try jumping the wiring to the fan to see if it spins at all? I'd hate to see you replace a potentially good fan, Perhaps there are wiring issues elsewhere.

First things first, Have you checked the fuse in the under hood fuse box?
Edit: Take a look at this thread and let me know how that turns out for you.

Re: coolant leak from hose under distributor cap
Okay, I did just jump it and it worked off a 12v battery. So does that mean it is either the fuse or has to be the themoswitch? could it be anything else?

Re: coolant leak from hose under distributor cap
Okay, I checked out the fuse and it was fine. I replaced the themoswitch and that is exactly what was wrong. After changing it out now my fan turns on. Thank you Chris!
