Coolant hose exploded
I'm not sure which one but smoke billowed out from underneadth the fuel injectors.
The car is a 1993 Honda Civic Si hatchback with a stock D16 motor with about 165k miles on it.
This is the second time a hose exploded violently like this which caused the car to overheat and cause smoke to come out of the engine bay.
What could cause this? I think it may be a hose that I couldn't see therefore it would've been hard to see it coming.
Also, how often should I be inspecting the hoses in my car?
Are there any hoses that are more prone to exploding than others? I took it to my mechanic, hopefully they can fix it but I just wanted to figure something out cuz they can't look at it until Monday.

Re: Coolant hose exploded
the heater hose that is attached to the engine directly under the distributor is often overlooked because the distributor is in the way of seeing it and you have to look at it at a weird angle to see it well.
is that the one that exploded?
if the hose is too old and gets too soft it can eventually burst due to its material weakening.
my guess is that when it gets super soft it is eventually like a balloon and the pressure of the coolant will cause the hose to swell like a balloon somewhat until it bursts.

Re: Coolant hose exploded
I believe so. Smoke just came out right under the fuel injectors. I thought at first something happened to my fuel injectors but I saw the coolant all over the place so I was relieved.
