Converting from R12 to R134A
Hey guys,
As the title states, I removed most of my A/C Components years ago when I was dumb. I can't stand it anymore, I live in North Carolina and it gets HOT and HUMID here during the summer. Just tired of being miserable. I am wanting to find a 94-95 Civic that is of course R134A and rip everything out of it and install it in my 93. I know I will need everything. All the lines/hoses, condenser, compressor, evaporator, etc. I will be buying a new Drier, Expansion Valve. My question is on the evaporator. I know its under the dash but I have never pulled one out. Due to its location I assume I will have to pull the dash, is this correct?
I have spent hours today reading on converting from R12 to R134A and a complete change over seems to be the best way for top performance. Hard part is going to be finding a Civic around here that hasn't been stripped already. I would go back with R12 but I don't have a license to buy it, nor do I know anyone that does. So I think a complete R134A changeover would be the best in my situation.
So my questions are:
-Am I missing anything?
-I assume all the R134A parts swap right over and bolt right into my R12 EG?
-Do I need to pull the dash to get the evaporator?
-Any other tips/advice/comments you guys have, please feel free to fire away!
Thanks in advance.
