Default can i hook-up vtec motor to non-vtec tranny

I am getting a d16y7 motor, and want to hook it up to my g/f 93 auto civic. will it bolt up directly?

depending on what yr civic it is going in. If your car is 92-95, a manual tranny will not bolt right up as the tranny mount differs. If that is the case, in the past, people just pryed off the old tranny mount from the chassis and welded another one. I would highly not recommend that as there is a lot of room for human error. Place racing now makes a tranny mount that is just a blot on.. although expensive but worth it.

For 96+, this is not an issue.

i believe that everything will bolt up w/ no problems.. you are gonna have to run a few wires for vtec also and make sure you get the ECU w/ the engine or it will not work correctly.. this swap is basically the same as a EX auto from the factory only your gearing will be a little different.. hope this helps and im correct cause ive never done this and just read up alot on stuff..

damn, its a pain. youre going from auto to 5-spd. you will need the pedals and the mounts. also, you need to cut the slots for the pedals. youll have to swap out the motor, tranny, and ecu. youll need different tranny mounts as well.

you don't need to cut slots for the pedals, they're just bolt on. I'm doing mines soon when my motor come in. no cutting or welding required whatsoever.
