Converting engine bay to full AN honda shop and k20 forum say one thing pirtek say an

Long story short putting a GSR swap here into a EG hatchback soon and though lets go wire tuck and then I said well Im already in here let do a brake tuck also, and while were at it lets paint the engine bay the right way. My local honda only shop says I can throw a 37an on the stock lines, Pirtek service tech came out this morning to spec the car out for braided lines. I was trying to get someone else to do my flares I admit it, I said it.

TLDR;
But Pirtek service tech tells me that if I flare my stock rear and fuel lines to 37 AN they will split.

Is this true?

oh, that seems awfully large for a brake or fuel line. Am I missing something here?

Sorry about that I have been up since yesterday. I will rephrase what I was told "that if I put a 37 degree an flare fitting on my stock oem fuel lines that they would splinter because the material of the hard line is made out of." Is this true?

The hard lines in the car now for fuel. I can do a AN flare on them and not worry right?

Alt key and num pad

All AN fittings are 37° flare. So are JIC fittings, but they are made to a lesser specification.

Interdasting.

Just replace all the lines with new ones.

Why not use an AN fitting that doesn’t require flaring the hardline? https://www.anplumbing.com/adapters/compression.html

that boujie, go for the gusto, go all the way. Why not go full an fittings on every line in the bay? I was just real confused by seeing dude tell me I cant do that but I read differently.

Isn’t it illegal to run a compression fitting on a brake line as opposed to properly correct flared lines and fittings?

To do the degree symbol on my iPhone, I hold the zero down until it pops up with the options of 0 or °.

Oh, and it is possible to crack/split your hardlines with the flaring tool.

We are talking about fuel supply and return.

I saw where you mentioned brake tuck in your post along with fuel lines and thought that you were doing them, too.

You should be be fine with compression fittings on fuel, but idk.

Tech saying the line will split if flared could be due to the age/condition of the lines. Or they are trying to sell you on replacing them all.

I think it is in some states. However, medium-pressure steel tubing and fittings have working pressures of 20,000 psig (1378 bar), which is an order of magnitude greater than brake system pressures.

Yeah I can see that being said from the techs aspect. He doesn't know the vehicle or any of the variables. Tech was going on about how my honda lines are not jnic, and that the line was made from a flat piece of metal.

Re: Converting engine bay to full AN honda shop and k20 forum say one thing pirtek sa

Its true that you flare your tubing to 37 degree to convert to AN. And as someone mentioned, you could use the compression style AN fittings for your fuel feed and return, due to the fact that its relatively low pressure. I personally would do it right and flare them. Thats what I did on mine. Think about it, if youre going through the trouble of doing an AN brake tuck and doing all the 37 degree flares there, then when why not do it to the fuel lines too. But I would NEVER ....ever... ever... use any type of compression fittings on any part of the braking system. Why risk youre life to save 2 minutes. I done my brake tuck completely out of hard line and AN fittings, the actual brake hose, i went with off the shelf russel stainless lines. I spent $100 just in fittings.
