Default constant vtec

Frankenstein motor in a 99 hx civic has a constant output of 14.0 volts to vtec plus hits a rev limitor at 6000. it does not redline just acts as if somethings holding it back.PLEASE HeLp. Thanks

problem with the ecu?? try out a friends with the same vehicle in yours and see if it helps - - if it does, then u know thats the problem...

u should get that fixed though - - its gonna suck for gas mileage and wear on your engine...

check you tps and map sensor see if it got switched.

Already checked, it is correct and according to helm and chilton they are both reading accurate volts and ohms.thanks

which block if your running a b20 vtec best to run a gsr ecu - your fuel map on the 99/00 si ecu is kind of far off for a b20 ! i ran the si ecu on myne same prob- ran gsr ecu- ran fine!

The VSS sensor is in a diff place on the p28 and p72. Also, with the p28 you can ground your vtec oil pressure switch to the motor, but the p72 looks for it at A26 i think. Search for the pinouts and compare. I bet that's your problem.

The vss is not hooked up b/c he used a 91 ls tranny with cable clutch and that sensor is mechanical compared to an electrical one with th si

You might want to consider converting to OBD0. Maybe someone else has some ideas, I'm out.
