Considering a hatchback for next car
Well guys, I know some things about hondas and engines and what not, but I want to learn more, and perferably from doing. I really want to do something with turbo, because it would be something different for me . Since I can not really do much with my 93 lude because it is automatic, im looking at hatchbacks now. I plan to keep my lude as a daily driver, and work on a hatch in the spare time.
I was wondering how many of you hatch drivers have swapped engines, turboed, and what not. I am going to locate a cheap hatch with a blown motor, or something real cheap, and then get a new engine. Not sure exactly what to get now, figure my obvious choices are: h22, h23, b16, b18. I plan on redoing the whole thing. What would be the best place to look for a HB with a blown engine, or one that is just cheap enough. I am in Asheboro, NC, if any of you have any good sources or anything, let me know..
Thanks in advanace

local newspaper, autotrader and ebaymotors, u can try. even tho on the net they bump up the prices a lot so negotiate and dont buy the first one you see.
If that lude got an h22 swap that into the hb, get a manual tranny, and you got your self a beast.

If your only lookin for a street "racer" then go to the junkyard and find a hatch that has a straight body(no motor,interior)....Upgrade and add whatever you want considering your keeping your daily driver.... my boy picked up a 95 Si shell w/No body damage for $500 ( http://www.from-da-ny-streets.....html )
not saying your gonna get same deal but the clean shells are in the Junkyard

however i think its been proven coupes have better aero dynamics than hachi's unless you start adding rear wings and ****.
thats how it is with a golf/jetta anyway.....
also if your looking for a neat project car, 89-91 civic, paint it glossy *****, tint your windows, put on 14-15" 5 spoke glossy white rims and your good to go, what you do on the inside is your matter :D

I would'nt do it, but that's just because I'm scared of getting everyone elses headaches and problems. As long as he isn't taking credit for building it who cares. He picked up parts that would cost you more to get and build the same car.

This will be my first attempt ever to do anything like this, so I rather do it all, or most of it

Re: (oes)
yeah, any engine build stock with a turbo is a turbo friendly engine , all stock na engines need a ecu upgrade if they want to last like a stock engine, and if your smart you will invest into standalone before any major upgrade.
