My car's ignition switch crapped out. So, knowing I have a 93 honda civic vx model, talked to a couple guys and his buddy recently wrapped his hatch around a pole and now its sitting in his driveway waiting to get stripped. So I tell the guy get me the ignition switch and the cyl assembly (with key of course) so thats all good and done. I pulled my ignition and cyl assembly only to find out the part goes to an lx auto-but the dealership where I bought the car from already told me my car was a theft recovery and many parts were replaced to get it running. now the fun part. I get the cyl lock assembly from guy and its part # comes up as a JDM ek assembly. I do not have the switch itself yet mind you - will this fit my car? I've had this car for 6 yrs and the VX (at least electrically speaking) doesnt seem to match up with a whole lot of your standard universal civic parts. The cyl assemblies look almost identical with the exception of a plastic cover piece that goes to like nothing on my old one. I do believe there may be problems with my assembly as people have tried to steal my car and failed (good old fuel cutoff switch ) so the tumblers slide really easy if you jiggle the key enough I know 20 dollar part lol but 1) will the cyl assembly work in my car and 2) will the ignition switch from a manual ek work too? I have no idea about the car Im getting parts of off other than it's cheap and its a hatch lol. I can't find **** locally under 250 for just the switch and that's IF they even have it.
