Confusing motor problem
Alright last night on my way home from getting my car dyno tuned my car started to make this faint noise like a wood pecker. The noise would go away when i give it some gas or if i let i decelerate in gear. I was crusing at around 4k rpms and this seemed to be the range where it was the loudest. Anyways i kept on driving while me and my brother tried to pin-point where it was coiming from. It just kept on getting louder and louder until the oil light came on and the car felt like it was going to die so i cut it off immediately(this all happened within like 2 secs). We coast into the breakdown lane and pull up behind my friends evo and we start trying to think what happened. We checked the oil level and its topped off, there is no oil under the car or any signs of a leak, and there are no holes in the block.
I got it towed home and i did a compression test today and it came up as 230-230-225-225. I also pulled out the oil pump to see if everything is fine in there and eveything seems fine also. both gears are intact and i didn't find any metal in the oil pan or in the pump. The motor spins freely and everything seems to be fine. Does anyone have an idea of what the hell is going on? If i spun a rod bearing it wouldn't cause the oil light to come on right? Oh btw my car put down 151hp and 112tq at the dyno on a jdm b16a with a a/f ratio around 12.0-13.0.
