alright i know that the year is stamped under the heat shield and its the closest circle to they distributor side correct??? and it is stamped 5601813 so is that a 2nd gen.???? also it is stamped upside down i think and if it is then it says 9/8 so is that correct???

is it a b16a or a b16a2? did t come mated with a cable tranny (not always the correct way of determining though), ummm... is it a stock valve cover? if so then check to see if the "VTEC" is smaller than the "DOHC" then its a first gen, but if its backwards then its a later gen. These are all very nono-concrete ways of determining it though. there are others, like something to do with wires going to the distributer or something, but I forgot. my friend tells me that it is an obd1 and now i think my motor is jdm and since it is obd1 it should be a 1st. gen. but im still not too sure but is there any way i can tell from my tranny???

OBD1 B16 is 2nd gen SirII

it'll say B16A...won't say A2, cause that's 99-00 Si engine
