Confirmation: Bent Igniter Coil Spring
I've looked around a bit, but there isn't much conclusive info.
Replaced my dizzy cap, but the igniter coil spring caught on the cap and bent a little. I tried to bend it back to its general shape and put everything back together..now the car misfires at idle and low rpm when warm.
The problem is I did a valve adjustment at the same time :S stupid I know. I will never do two jobs without checking them one at a time before proceeding ever again!! Anyways, for now let's ignore the valve job since I'm pretty sure I did it 100% by the book, and a compression test checked out.
Anyways, just for confirmation before I go out and spend money on a new coil:
a. Will a slightly bent coil spring cause misfire?
b. Has anyone bent it back without having any issues? Is this a reliable long-term solution?
I know it's probably smartest to just replace the whole coil, but I just want to know for sure as they don't seem to be cheap.
Thanks for the help!!

if you bend it back to the original state it should be fine.
could it be the plugs?
plug wires slippn off?
plug wire internals pulled out of the wire?

Re: Confirmation: Bent Igniter Coil Spring
i'll try bending it again when i get home..
i tried replacing plugs (NGKs): worked fine for a few days then back to the same.
every time i seem to mess around with the ignition system, it cures the problem temporarily. i put the new plugs in, re-torqued the new plugs, put another new cap and rotor on..
the only obvious things are the bent spring, a broken cap bolt from the previous owner (ran fine before i replaced the cap and rotor), and a few small cracks on a couple of the plug wires' plastic tips connecting to the plug. One of them has a mangled rubber seal that stays in the plug hole every time I remove the wire. I'll be replacing the wires soon with another set of NGK blues for piece of mind though..
but I doubt the current wires are at fault. resistance checks out..wire internals look clean and in good condition..they don't slip off of either the dizzy or the plug holes..

no, not yet.
i guess i'll just have to pull it out haha. i'll check all the wiring and dizzy components after i mess with the spring a bit. will replace the plug wires this weekend.
