computer for a swap
I have a civic hatchback with a B18 in it and I would like to know what computer would be better for performance, the P13 or the P28??? If anyone could answer this I would really appreciate it thanks.

You have to be more specific. Which B18 is it? GSR, Type R, LS?? P13 is the H22 ecu, P72 is GSR, and P28 is anything you want it to be when it's chipped.

It's a GSR it has a P13 in it now but it runs in the high 14 and has ideling problems. A technician said if I had a P28 in it that it would run high 13's or low 14's, and cure the ideling problems but since I don't know much about computers and performance I just want to get opinions from individuals that know more about this topic.

are you using any of the aftermarket IM like skunk 2?
if u r just rockin the stock GSR IM then i say u should just run a p72.
anything else has done to the motor?
i doubt u will be in 13's with p28 (chipped of course) but mid 14's fo sho

If the motor internals are stock, I would try the stock p72. I have an h22 i was running with a p28 chipped, and it ran pretty well, but it runs better on a p13. If the internals are not stock, get a p28 and hondata.

The P72 is the stock GSR ecu and that is probably what you want. The p28 is for a 92-95 sohc vtec motor. If you chip an OBD1 ECU you can make it into anything you want really, but if you plan on just getting bolt on stuff then the P72 is what you want. Remember to get the correct OBD type also.

Re: computer for a swap (95excoupe)
thanks for the responses is there any books out there that I can read to learn more about performance and swaps and things of that nature. I know about working on cars but I want to build a fast car and I want to get all the right stuff not just what everybody has. I want to build something that is going to go really fast but street legal of course. I will get more involved with this sight it has a lot of good topics about everything. thanks again guys/gals

don't worry about the books, just use the search button. You can find almost anything you will ever need to know about hondas on this site. And please search before you post a question. You'll find out why real quickly if you don't.
