Comptech exhaust - problem...
I have a comptech exhaust sitting in my garage. I am sure that the exhaust came off a 2000 Si, as I saw it on the car before it was taken off.
I recently tried putting it on my 2000 Ex because I just did a swap and wanted to experience the comptech before I sell it (I have the mugen that I will never part from the car), and ran into a pretty odd problem when doing so.
The exhaust lined up with all the hangers perfectly, however, the canister in the midpipe was not located in the same place as it is on the stock pipe. The canister was further down towards the back, near the spot where the midpipe bends. However, there is a heatshield at that exact spot, thus preventing the exhaust from being mounted - I certainly did not want to hear that rattle, or scratch up the exhaust.
Does anyone with this exhaust have any ideas of why this is happening? Did you take off your heatshield while installing your exhaust? Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Re: Comptech exhaust - problem... (Nameless)
As far as I know, it isn't. I have a stock Si midpipe on there right now, and it fits perfectly. Compech's site doesn't have the instruction manual either (broken link), so I can't even check that out. Anyone else???

Re: Comptech exhaust - problem... (dynamo)
I didn't remove any heat shields when installing mine. I have a 99 EX with the full comptech cat-back. All the components were shaped and sized perfectly. Could you post some photos of the problem?
