Default compression and torque

in general, how does raising your compression affect your engine's torque? or is this something you can you can even generalize this way. the reason i ask is i am building a b20 and in the future will be running a gsr head and p73 pistons to achieve around 11.6:1 compression as a daily driver. i chose the b20 knowing it was a torquey motor and want to know how bumping up the compression is going to affect this

Compressing the air and fuel into an even smaller area means there will be an even bigger bang. Bigger bang means a faster and more powerful power stroke. Faster and more powerful power stroke means more torque.

At the expense of slightly more heat and pressure inside the combustion chamber.

The increased pressure will not be such a big deal, though you might want to consider new head studs.

The increased heat also isn't too big a deal if your staying NA, if you plan on running turbo or supercharger (especially supercharger), it can lower the maximum amount of boost you can run before detonation.

It will make the engine feel more "peppy" having the extra torque. And though it may limit the amount of maximum boost you can run, a 10.5:1 compression ratio engine running 10 PSI will almost always make more power then a 8:1 compression engine running 10 PSI. And again, the engine won't bog as much when not in boost.

i'm staying NA i know that. knowing that b20's have thinner cylinder walls, i dont want to get into that mess. i know its not much of an issue with a regular amount of boost, but this is going to be my daily driver and i need reliability. the more i look into it i like the idea of a moderately high compression NA build
