Compression Test Results. (d16z6)
Ok me & my buddy shawn (shadyeh2) finally got around to doing a compression test on my car and here are the numbers.
Cylinder #1: 200
Cylinder #2: 188
Cylinder #3: 200
Cylinder #4: 200
Engine: D16Z6
Mileage:98,400
Mods: I/H/E
Now ovasly those are good numbers but my problem is on WOT i have smoke
starting to believe its my valve stem seals. Before i go and pay for some valve stem seals from honda i was wandering if you all could tell if it was anything else buy the results? Also i plan on getting a thinner headgasket to raise compression
which brand and what price am i looking to pay? TIA -Jimmy

Could be a head gasket problem if its white smoke. But your compression looks good so may not be. Cylinder 2 looks like its the one they may be having the problem...but its not off THAT much. Good luck.

Curious, I have a good compression and mine smokes some on WOT. Also lately my temp has gone up sometimes. I found a broken hose, and that has solved it for now. But im curious where your getting at with this...

I didnt quote you I was talking to Emerika.
I was saying I had an overheating problem and it was a broken hose. I was wodering what temperatures rising had to do with WOT smoke. Bad ringlands?

if he has white smoke at WOT and is losing coolant...leads me to believe it's the head gasket...I've had same problem before.
If it's blue smoke at WOT...I would look at valve stem seals and rings.
Is there a puff of smoke at initial start up??
requested...lol

On start up it smokes untill its warm and then sometimes it still does when warm...not much but then when on WOT white smoke....my head gasket isnt leaking so could it still be my head gasket?

what do you mean it's not leaking....not like you can see it leak...lol
but if you're not losing any coolant, I would think it's the head gasket then

my compression with total seal rings d16z6 with 3500 miles after oem rebuild
#1-225
#2-225
#3-225
#4-224.5
and i am black smoking during wot with my d16z6 with port and polish 3 angle job, i know i am running rich but i shouldnt be running that rich. emissions test was a 166.9 hydro carbons with a limit of 170. so that says right there im running rich but i just dont know if its too rich.
the rest of the mods in my sig

Re: (slowEh2)
smell your exhaust and see if there is a sweet smell. if you are burning coolant it will smell sweet. sometimes a headgasket leak will only raise the temperature a few degrees which will not show up on the stock temp gage... if you want to replace the valve stem seals http://www.taylorautomotive.com has them for like $0.68 each. unless you only use honda replacement parts...
only other suggestion is a leakdown test...

Re: (OpTiX619)
z6 and y8 headgasket are same thickness- . my car has a little smoke at wot- its mainly black in color, but my compression #s are 210,208,205,210 and i replaced the valveseals about 2000 miles ago, so i know its not them. im thinkin its no big deal. kinda ot- but can a car have good compression and still be burning coolant- cause my beater car has 190 across all 4 and dont leak coolant but the resevoir goes dry every 200 miles or so...

Re: (Emerika)
Ok thanks guys for hi-jacking the thread interacting your problems with mine.
So i won't be able to tell if I'm leaking coolant from the outside or not ?
I plan on replacing my headgasket soon (thinner one for high compression) so i guess well find out if its my headgasket. TIA

No what he is saying is that it is leaking into your pistons, and your burning it off.

PCV system would have been my guess too. You changed the valve so you know it's not that. Are all of your PCV lines hooked up correctly?

Yes assuming I've never touched them..
