So I went to a buddy's shop tonight with a whole ton of other people with various cars and we talked cars and hung out. I asked my buddy if he knew how to do a compression test and he goes, "pop your hood, it takes 20 minutes tops" so I was like, alright sweet. I've never gotten one and I'm curious to see if I have a blown headgasket due to so much oil covering my engine.

Starting from the closest cylinder to the distributor, the numbers were ~210 - ~175 - ~205 - ~210 which I think are PHENOMENAL considering I just hit 210,000 miles today and it's still the original headgasket and engine parts. Now I'm just wondering what could cause the ~175 to be lower than the other 3. He said it's not bad, it's not great, but I shouldn't be worried, unless it was like near 100 or so.

I don't know ANYTHING about engine stuff so I'm trying to learn all that I can. Test was done on a 99 d16y8.

the numbers look good the 175 is off but only a little bit. it could be due to a worn ring in that cylinder or maybe scarring of the cylinder walls. try an oil leak down test but these arent bad numbers.

check the valve cover gasket, distributor o ring to see if the oil is coming from there
