Default Compression test b18c, no compression readings.

Ok well i am having bad problems with my b18c, all of the sudden it started running really shitty. I went to do a compression test today, and when I tried it I couldn't get a reading. I tried two different compression tests. Both from a auto store. The needle on the gauge would go up and go right back down when I tried to crank it, i would try and do it for a few seconds. What would be causing this? i took my valve cover off and tried cranking it and the valves all moved freely the intake and exhaust side so i am thinking they aren't stuck. Could this be gasket related like head gasket? I haven't really had any symptoms off a bad head gasket. But i was just wondering what you guys thought of this.

if the gauges on the needle fall back down i'm calling foul on the tools used,

the gauge should read max psi reached then stay there even though theres no compression in the cylinder

Alright well then ill try another one tomorrow, ill go buy one. A friend of mine let me borrow two of them from the auto place he works, so maybe it was just a shitty compression tester. Cause I went and looked at 3 different tutorials on how to use one and no matter what way i tried it, it wouldnt work

Did it read 0 on all 4?

That would point directly to the tool being used, being bad.

Yeah to all 4, it just seemed weird to me that 2 of them would be bad. But i mean the gauge goes up then back down right after it turns over.

Describe in detail how you are doing the test.

I took the spark plugs out, took the injector plugs off so no fuel goes in, took the dizzy wires off, screwed the compression test tube into the spark plug hole and turned it till its hand tight, the attached the gauge. I went into my car pressed the gas pedal in all the way and tried cranking it for a few seconds. The gauge needle would slightly rise every time it would turn over to that cylinder then fall again.

Maybe the compression tube was too loose and was leaking.

You generally should remove the hood ECU fuse to prevent both spark and fuel. The way you did the test, you could blow the coil.

Also I have a video of how my car is running, from the previous post that you talked to me.

I try not to run it to much since this started, so i just thought i would after i put the valve cover back on and took those since it might help out.

It wasn't me, it was faulty tools, i bought a new one today and did one. I got 240 on all cylinders except the 3rd one and it got 215 so i am pretty sure I have valve damage.
