Default compression

my boy wants to know about his compression....lets say he wants to run about 9-12 psi from his turbo...will his b18b be able to handle it without any work to the bottom end?

It would hold up but not for long. Anybody that has turbo loves to bag on their motors. If your gonna maintain a stock bottom end, it'll eventually go. Your buddy should invest in some good aftermarket pistons, blockguard and ARP studs.

And don't forget the RODS!

All depends on how it is tuned. If it is tuned very well and driven smartly (not to say lightly, just don't go smashing into the rev limiter), then it should hold up fairly well. But just to be on the safe side, I would build the bottom-end at least a little. If nothing else, get stronger rods.

it depends on his compression test and leakdown numbers, but it will blow.

Say away from the Blockguard the reason it makes the top of the cylinder not get properly cooled and can cause detation but the other advice is good. Besides on 9-12 psi a properly tuned B18 should have no problems

The guys from Jackson Racing use the stock rods and claims that they are just fine for their Supercharged SOHC VTEC engine....
Yeah, and the JRSC is considdered a BOLT-ON kit, meaning it was made to be used with no serious modification to the rest of the engine, so they darn well better be using the stock rods! Also, the boost is much less than the 9-12 from the turbo (and no, I'm not comparing 9psi supercharged, vs. 9psi turbo, 9psi from a turbo gives greater gains).
