Completely stock d16y7 clutch slipping?

Alright. I went to hparts.com and I see three things that I can buy from there that are clutch related. My question is, what items do I need in order to fix my slipping clutch problem. Here is the three things they have:

Pressure Plate Assembly : http://www.hparts.com/cgi-bin/...try=2

Clutch Disc : http://www.hparts.com/cgi-bin/...try=2

Please let me know which ones I need to buy, and If I need to purchase anything else. I'm not doing the work myself, just buying the parts and taking it to a shop.

Old question:
Well, I have a completely stock 96 civic dx hatch. The only performance mod is a spoon N1 axleback. Well, I installed the exhaust two days ago. Then I took the engine for the usual test beating with the new exhaust. I'm at a stand still. I launch and expect to pull hard, but then, car calmly gets traction and starts accelerating like I'm not all the way on the gas or something. Then it redlines and I power shift to second and wait for the usual hard jerk or maybe a tire screatch, but it just calmly goes into second and rpm's start going up again with a weaker pull.

Is my transmission gone. I know nothing about transmission as this is my first manual car ever. So please let me know whats wrong and what I should do.

I was reading some older searches and I did notice that in the last month, my pull between 3 and 4K rpm's is very weak. Also, I can be at a stand still, put the car in 2nd gear, and then slowly let the clutch in and it will ride away.

Keep in mind that I DO NOT plan on EVER moding this stock d16y7. I just need the engine to stay healthy until I can pull together the money for a swap, which looks like a year so definatly nothing soon. So I guess my main question are:

Is the problem that my clutch is slipping?

If so, what do I need to do / buy to fix the problem?

If its just a clutch that I need, should I do an OEM Replacement or a Exedy Clutch?

i think your clutch is slipping, and i think you need to go easy on your stock engine for now, until you get something that actually makes some power

alright, arright, so what will I need to buy? A new clutch right? Which one, exedy or stock?

how many miles are on ur car

around 90k usually the clutch goes bad
(from my experience and my other friends that had d16y7s)

ud need a new clutch, and get the flywheel turned

I have a 99'DX hatch with about 90k miles, and my clutch is alot 'weaker' than it was when I first got my car.

A couple weeks ago, while I was driving up a steep mountain @ 5000 RPM in 3rd, I had this burning smell coming into the cabin. After that, my clutch was not the same http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

I'm hoping my clutch can last another 10k so I could get enough money together for a swap too https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Yea, but I don't see a swap coming any time soon so I'm just going to get the clutch replaced. So my last question is what new clutch should I put in. Like I said, Im definatly not moding this engine, but I do want a clutch that will last. So, what clutch?

Mine has held up to about 10 psi at the track once. It sure does'nt hold as well as it used to, but I need to upgrade anyways.

I won't be because I'm FI. I want a 6 puck disk with a sprung hub, but am having trouble finding one for the D series. Even if you make no more power than stock I would upgrade the clutch as long as you get something that remains streetable. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

You need the pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing. Most of the clutch kits come with all of the parts that you need. I think the exedy oem replacements are like 200 and the act hdss is like 320. If you plan on doing any mods get the act if not get the exedy

what he said ^ + the alignment tool - which should come in the kit with everything else. also, if you want to get a lightweight flywheel, this is the opportune time.

Right on John I forgot about the alignment tool. Whenever I put the hdss clutches in it always comes with the tool already so I never think about having to get one.
