Default comparing b-series dist.

is there a difference in 96-98 and 99-00 b-series dist?

I think there is but someone is telling me that there isn't.

problem being i'm putting a jdm b16a into 99 ek, dist won't plug up to my dx harness. he is saying that i can't use a dx harness and i need an si, or do i just need a 99-00 dist. thank you.

Nope, all OBD2 '96 to say 2001 Teg are all the same, they are also the same as the '99-2000 Si and all have the same connector... This will plug directly into your DX harness... Ones that wouldn't work would be those distributors into a CX harness as the connector is different or an OBD1 distributor... However an OBD1 distributor would work but you would have to get an OBD2 connector for it... If you need anything else let me know... Peace

Thanks Kataku,

Gotta another question though. So I have figured out that I have an obd2 dist. but the plug is different than the one that is on my 99 DX harness. Should I just get the OBD2 dist plug and wire it up myself? Thanks again.

Did you mean OBD1 ^^^ or is 2 correct... If 2 is correct then see below...

Hmmm, that's weird... A thing I've been seeing a lot of lately is people with standard B series distributors not being able to directly plug into their CX harnesses... Is the connector or your engine harness smaller than that of the dizzy or is it just different (as in shape, size, etc.)... If it's smaller I'm thinking that you might have a CX harness but I could be wrong... Also if you want, to send me any pics I might be able to help ya more... Either way it's not that hard, all you gotta do is make sure the ECU gets the signal that it wants from the dizzy... Good Luck!!

2 is correct.

the engine harness is smaller and a different shape. also the engine harness has 8 wires running to that plug whereas the obd2 dist has 9 wires. i'm almost positive that it is a dx harness with the plugs for vtec added being that i sent my stock harness to a friend and had him add the plugs but for some reason he didn't mess with this part. I'm thinking about trying to find the si engine harness side of a dist plug and then just running the wires myself. thanks again for all the help.
