cold air? short ram w/ head light removal? or modified stock air box?
hi, i was just curious on the opinions of others on what air intake is the best?
right now im running a short ram. Ive never really ran it with the right head light removed, and i was curious if I should change to a CAI.
basically this post boils down to temperature I suppose. Does cold air really make a huge difference considering its right behind the tire, and so close to the pavement ? I mean that tire is getting pretty warm, so is there a huge temperature difference? Ive actually heard lately that the stock honda air box modified with a hole in it performs the best due to the design and the rings ( that I used to think restricted air) grabbing the air into a vaccum .. . .
just wanted some input .... thanks

This is actually a pretty good question. The answer will really depend from person to person. Of everything i've read that the AEM CAI gives the best gains, because it is just the right size and diameter to maximize velocity. Short ram's are good because they are usually 3", and suck in a lot of air...HOT air that is. J's racing intakes I hear are pretty good on the butt dyno, but i'm not sure if they are much better than cold air intakes or short rams for that matter. The last one you speak of is the DIY icebox...this helps a bit but is pretty much worthless without a K&N filter. I havent seen any dyno charts with any of these intakes besides an AEM CAI. I can say from personal experience between a DIY Icebox, AEM CAI, and short ram...that AEM CAI is the way to go

It all depends on what you want.
Short ram is best for throttle response.
CAI is best for overall power on a stockish motor.
