Default Cold air intake, and tire sizes for 93 civic LX

I couldn't find out what part of the forum to put this in. The tires could go in the tire section, but rather than hog up bandwidth, I figure put them into one with the cold air intake. I wasn't sure if that should go in the turbo/section or the tech section.

Anyway, what are some good brands for a cold air intake for a 93 civic LX.

I just bought wheels from a friend of mine, that are 17s. I can't remember the tire size off hand, (obviously 17, but I can't remember all the numbers).

What is TOO big for daily driving (I plan on keeping the old rims to put on in the winter) and will I have to lower the car for the 17s?

One last thing, if there's a website that has this on it, please leave me a link. Thank you very much. Also, thank you very much for the control arm bushing help. I passed inspection, and the job was a fairly easy one with your help.

Thank you again.

no but might have to raise it so you dont rub depending on tire size. i wouldnt go bigger than 16's if i were you

any cold air will work as it is just tubing. the filter makes the difference in them. i would go with K&N filter but cheap ebay tubing works (i have one)

I got on eBay and looked for some. Looks like between 30-35$ for one. The sellers are ripping people on shipping. Saying it's 18-25$ to ship. I ship guitars for that, in hardshell cases! Personally, I'd rather go to Pepboys, pay 67$ for an injen, and not have to pay shipping, and have it right away, rather than spend 35$ and 25$ for a total of 60$ and have to wait.

Then again, I'm going to keep combing through ebay. Thank you for the quick response. Hopefully I don't have to raise the car. I don't know what that entails, but it can't be easy.

Wheel wise i have to agree w/ EG_yo sell your 17's and pick up a nice set of 15's i went from heavy *** 17's to a set of 99-00 si's and it's a world of difference weight wise ... although traction wise of course the 17's were better ... when i was running 17's i had a set of 225/45's on and they did nothing but rub w/ a 1.5" drop so i'd suggest a 205 45 setup or something along those lines ...

Intake wise , i'd go w/ what everyone else is saying by the ebay intake for it's piping ... get some heat resistant paint & throw a K&N filter on the end of it

I'd like some info on the cai you've got for sale. Is it for my year/model civic?

The tires are 205 40 17 I believe. They were on a lowered 97 civic, and they didn't rub. I just don't want to get into coil overs and ****, so if I was going to need to lower the car for it, I would just do what everyone else is saying, sell and rebuy!

What are some good tire choices that are relatively affordable. I noticed that on eBay, I can get a set of Toyos for it, in that size for 400ish shipped. I also noticed, on some store websites, I can get different companies cheaper. I know that you get what you pay for, so someone give me some suggestions

EG8, when you say heat resistant paint, what am I painting with it? I'm no dummy (well kind of am) when it comes to car work, and from what it looks like, I'm just taking and bolting some piping in, and this air filter will take the place of the old one (obviously this ones on the end of the thing, and not in the box.

Well ... the reason i suggested heat resistant paint is the piping tends to get hot from sitting in the warm engine bay , there for eventually heating up the air that circulates throw the intake ... so i suggested heat resistant paint (Engine Paint or something along those lines) to kind of help w/ the cooling process of the air that the intake sucks up .

first off, what are you doing putting 17's on a sedan???

secondly, if you wanted to keep the speedo in check, 205/35's is what you'd need. personally, i think that's too thin of a tire and if you pot hole it the rim will be done.

The price was right on the 17s.

Do you have all the parts of the CAI?

also, I drive a sedan, and I don't have a 2 door. I figured that down the line when I buy a coupe, I can just swap the rims.

that CAI you have, do you have all the hardware+filter? If so, what shipping cost would you charge for 16601 zip code.

I double checked, the tires are 205 40 17, so if you had bigger tires WITH a drop that rubbed, these probably shouldn't, since I won't have a drop on it, and I won't have that size tire.
