Cold Air Intake on a stock '95 civic?
Well, it's time to change my air filter and was woundering of I could add a few more horses if possible.
What should I get for my stock '95 civic LX?
Regular filter
K&N filter that goes into the stock filter box
or
Cheap Cold Air Intake?

I was faced with this same decision. No point getting a regular OEM air filter. Go with a K&N in the stock airbox or a cold-air off ebay. They are about the same price. The ebay cold-air gives a much better noise though, because the stock airbox system is also designed to reduce the induction noise of your motor. Removing the stock system will make your motor sound mean at full throttle, even if its the stock motor and its not moving very fast

OP: if you go with CAI just think if you drive in alot of rainy flooded areas.. chance of sucking up water. IMO id go with PasswordJDM's Carbon Fiber short ram (makes same gains as CAI and is cheap compared to a CAI). I have one on my EJ8 and couldnt be happier with it. And it sounds really good too..my motor is stock and it gives it a nice deep sound and screams real nice too at high RPMs.

If water is an issue, can't the bypass valve be used? I have never used this, but I thought that was what the purpose of this product was. If I am wrong, somebody please correct me.

i think you are right..but still sucks as a risk - plus you still lose a little bit of throttle response with the CAI bypass valve or not, the short ram intake you get a bit better throttle response

an intake is an intake is an intake. the stock intake arm is a pretty straight/smooth design on the inside. the best/cheapest intake would be a gsr arm or something for b series with a high flow filter

You also loose any HP gained by the CAI with a bypass valve.

Forced induction intake? Lol, jk, that's not cheap at all.
Any of the above options are good. Take into account, if you don't care about how your engine bay looks, get a filter for the OEM, and take out the resonator box. If you like the bling, I guess you could spring for the shiny tube style.
CAIs are slightly less good for response than SRIs, and come with danger of sucking up water if you come across a flooded road, or a deeper puddle than you think it is (Hydrolocking is undesirable to anyone), but they yield like a 1hp superiority to the SRI.
Myself, I have the AEM SRI (legal reasons: CARB approved), and I like it. It's responsive, gives that good intake noise that all honda's have, and I don't need to worry in the rainy season.

i have to Agree with the suggested password jdm intake. or check ebay for the plastic knock off model. i think its a hundred bucks and includes the 50$ 4inch K&N cone filter. it sounds cool too. especially when you get on it.
